Tamim Iqbal is conscious about maiden ten overs on the third ODI against New Zealand. As this dashing Bangladeshi opener is suffering from form, the team lost the series already. Of course, Tamim Iqbal has to flash on the match to rescue the team from the whitewash.
Bangladesh is in front of a whitewash
As losing the first two matches and the series, team Bangladesh is on the back foot. The headache is the off-form of the openers. Tamim Iqbal scored 5 runs on the whole series, his opening partner Liton Das scored 2 runs with 1 run each match. Another mentionable thing that they lost the matches for the failure of the top-orders.
So Tamim Iqbal emphasizes on this matter as well. This hard-hitter believes in first ten overs can change the game. From the recent statistics, Bangladesh lost first four and three top orders within the first ten overs on the first and second ODI. So it becomes an epidemic problem, Bangladesh could stick before two hundred unless the middle-orders steer the team.
Tamim Iqbal to the reporters, ahead of the third ODI
“Whoever comes in need to bat long? Tamim told reporters ahead of the third ODI. “To be honest I will only hope that we don’t give away the game in the opening 10 overs because if you lose a couple of wickets in the opening 10 overs it gets difficult to make a comeback. I think we did that in the opening two games and paid the price and we hope not to make those mistakes in the next game.”
“To be honest, the wickets were very good, especially in the first match. We knew that their two opening bowlers start very well and we gave away four wickets. The wicket was good in the second game as well but they had some help due to the weather and conditions at that time following the rain.”
Memorizing the last New Zealand tour Tamim said, “Last year we played some good cricket but could not win but this year we have not been able to play good cricket. Last time we put up a fight but this year there was no contest. I don’t know why we are failing to beat them here despite coming to New Zealand on three to four occasions. Because we have beaten them in Ireland and England and so there is no reason why we cannot beat them here”
As Mohammad Mithun and Mushfiqur Rahim are suffering from injury, Tamim Iqbal afraid of the matter too, “He (Rahim) did not practice today and just passed the time walking around the ground during the practice session but we believe he might recover before the last game though I am not sure because we are yet to get the scan report,”
Therefore, Tamim Iqbal is conscious about maiden ten overs. As this opener acknowledged batting wicket but praised the Kiwi bowlers as well.
