Tamim Iqbal expected more
Tamim Iqbal expected more from his teammates in Hamilton, “To be honest, getting this kind of start was like a dream for us because normally on a greenish wicket we tend to lose two or three wickets early and everyone knows what follows next. But after getting such a brilliant start, not to capitalize is disappointing. Not only me, who just scored a hundred but everyone in the dressing room very disappointed”
Tamim Iqbal thought it was a good wicket
Tamim Iqbal thought it was a good wicket, “ I thought it was a very good wicket. It was greenish but didn’t do too much. We should have scored a lot more runs than what we have put on there. At the end of the day, we have ourselves to blame. I thought if we could have batted the whole day, scored somewhere between 350 to 400, then it could have been a decent total.”
Tamim Iqbal accused the unwise shot selection
Tamim Iqbal accused the unwise shot selection, “ When we went to bat, sometimes, one or two boundaries come along but that was not happening. They were bowling well but in patches. But if you see our dismissals, you will find that we were not dismissed by brilliant deliveries, rather we were out playing wrong shots that helped them earn success by executing their plans.”
Tamim Iqbal clarified his plan
As Tamim Iqbal clarified his plan, “ I had a very clear plan. The plan was, if there is any room or if the ball is there to hit, I will try to hit it. Luckily, I got a few boundaries early and kept on batting the way I like to bat.”
The opener acknowledged their mistakes
The opener acknowledged their mistakes, “We made a mistake all of a sudden after doing well. We all know what Wagner does because he is doing it for the last four or five years. But how will we tackle him depends on us. Some like to play pull shots while ducking was a better option for some. For me, ducking was a better option, so I kept on ducking.”
Therefore, Tamim Iqbal expected more from his teammates in Hamilton. Hope Bangladeshi bowlers will cover batsmen’s faults and the team will come back through the test.
