Winning the toss Sydney thunders decided to bat first. They scored 142 from 20 overs costing 6 wickets. Wicket Keeper batsman Jos Buttler scored 55 from 54 balls. He hit 4 boundaries and an over the boundary. Third batsman Callum Ferguson scored 42 from 30 balls, with 5 fours and a six. Then, the seventh batsman, Chris Green played a stormy inning with 3 fours.
Bowling all-rounder Ashton Agar picked 2 wickets from 27 runs. Jason Behrendorff, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Andrew Tye and Jhye Richardson distributed the rest four among them.
