South Africa ties up for the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka. Some of the surprises brought to the declared squad. Lungi Ngidi recalled again after the injury and uncapped Anrich Nortje is waiting for the debut.
Lungi Ngidi re-entered into the team
As Lungi Ngidi re-entered into the team, hence he dropped from the team for massive injury, which missed him from the entire series against Pakistan and tests against Sri Lanka. But South Africa might be happy to get this right-hander pacer before World Cup-19.
This right-hander pacer played his last ODI against Australia on the November last year. Though he debuted in New lands against India in the February of the same calendar. Lungi Ngidi picked 15 wickets from only 13 ODIs with 23.04 averages and 5.56 economy only. Hope this pacer will utilize his opportunity well.
Anrich Nortje is waiting for the debut
Anrich Nortje is waiting for debut as well. Though this 25 years old played in t-20 but uncapped in the ODI. This right-hander fast bowler has wonderful statistics in list A and First class as well. His 24.04 average and 4.42 economy are really adverting something hopeful.
CSA National Selection Panel convener Linda Zondi
CSA National Selection Panel convener Linda Zondi, “It is great to have Lungi back in the squad after a lengthy period on the sidelines caused by the injury he suffered in the white ball series in Australia last year. His recent form for the Titans in the Momentum One-Day Cup has been most impressive and he is clearly matching fit for international cricket again.”
Linda Zondi also hopeful for Anrich Nortje, “Anrich has also come back well from injury and we want to see what he can offer the Proteas after his highly impressive form in the Mzansi Super League. Outright pace is not something that you can coach, and he looks another exciting addition to our pace arsenal”
Linda Zondi will focus on the first part on the ODI series, “Those players who were in the squad against Pakistan but who have been left out this time have not been dropped. But we need to use the first part of this series to examine all the options that are available to us.”
“We know, for example, what Hashim Amla has to offer us and he remains a senior member of our squad. We are also hopeful that the last remaining Protea on the injury list, JP Duminy, will be available for the last two matches against Sri Lanka”
