After scans revealed him to be suffering from the virus that required treatment for at least four weeks. But PCB set up his appointment with a London-based gastroenterology and hepatology specialist, following which the leg-spinner separately traveled to London after the Pakistani side departed for England.
Shadab Khan will return to Islamabad from London on Monday and after taking two weeks of rest. He will undergo another round of blood tests in Lahore after which the PCB hopes to have “more clarity” on his availability for the World Cup-19.
Shadab Khan and his replacement
Accordingly, Shadab Khan is a frontline spinner in Pakistan’s bowling attack. But the prospects of his unavailability for the showpiece event are worrisome for Pakistan. Pakistan has replaced him with Yasir Shah for the England series, who has been rather mediocre in ODI cricket. Pakistan plays their World Cup opener on May 31 against West Indies at Trent Bridge.
