Winning the toss, Afghanistan opted to bat first. Though their opener couldn’t support the captains’ decision, opener Mohammad Shehzad returned to the pavilion by 12 on the scoreboard, third batsman Rahmat Shah also went back by 23 runs. George Dockrell scored 54 runs with a four and a six before Mohammad Nabi sent him back. The man of the match title goes to, Andrew Balbarinie for 145 runs inning, “There was a lot of pressure. We hadn’t won against these guys. Just for a morale boost, with two games to go, is fantastic for the side. It’s been a long tour. A few scary moments, but you have to take risks. They have world-class bowlers. We haven’t had practice in the last few days because of the rain, and it has been a mental battle watching videos of those bowlers.”
