Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Mithali Raj will be captains of three sides in the Women’s T20 Challenge, as the BCCI confirmed the squads for the exhibition matches.
Though the 2018 edition of Women’s t-20 challenge had just players from England, Australia and New Zealand take part in the first ever Women’s T20 Challenge. Players played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. But This time around, the tournament will also welcome players from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Caribbean to give it more versatile from around the world.
The new team in the Women’s t-20 challenge
The new team in the Women’s t-20 challenge is Velocity. That will be under the captaincy of Mithali Raj and coach is former India cricketer Mamta Maben. Accordingly, the Australians missing out has provided a chance to a number of other players. Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka), Natalie Sciver, Sophie Ecclestone (both England), Sakera Selman, Stafanie Taylor, Hayley Mathews (all West Indies), Amelia Kerr (New Zealand) and Jahanara Alam (Bangladesh) will be the new faces this time around with a number of Indians players as well.
The Rules and Regulations
Each of the teams has a maximum of four foreigners this time around, one lesser from the previous year. WV Raman will coach Supernova. Who won the one-off game last year, while Trailblazers will be under the coaching of Biju George. Australian cricketers, however, will not be present during this edition including Alyssa Healy, Beth Mooney, Meg Lanning, Elysse Perry, and Megan Schutt.
