Defending CSK got Scott Kuggeleijn as the replacement of Lungi Ngidi on the current season of IPL. As CSK lost their Protea pacer Lungi Ngidi for injury and their coach Stephen Fleming confirmed the agreement.
Scott Kuggeleijn is the replacement
On the absence of Lungi Ngidi, Scott Kuggeleijn is the replacement in the Chennai Super Kings squad. Accordingly, Scott Kuggeleijn made his t-20 debut against Sri Lanka in Auckland on the January of this year. Despite only four matches brought him an only a couple of wickets and scored 57 runs from 3 inning, which actually is not enough to measure the hidden talent in him.
CSK coach Stephen Fleming is happy to get him, “For Lungi, we’ve been a little bit more selective. It’s obviously a different level of replacement player (required for him) based on price. We’ve gone with Scott Kuggeleijn, who’s a New Zealand international, who bowls quick and bats well. So we’ve gone for an all-rounder who has good pace and good variations. He’ll be joining us next week,”
David Willey is irreplaceable
However, CSK coach acknowledged David Willey’ replacement is quite difficult, “We can’t replace David Willey. David’s got a personal issue at home that he’s dealing with and we’re supporting him and we’ll continue to support him. So contrary to some of the statements that have come out, we can’t replace David Willey no matter what happens. It’s just about us supporting him and his family as they go through some issues at home, and we support his decision to be at home. So we can’t replace him.”
As we know, David Willey left CSK as he becomes the father of his second child who was in the team as another replacement of Kedar Jadhav in the last season of IPL. Therefore, CSK has only six foreign players instead of eight before signing Scott Kuggeleijn on their team.
Therefore, defending champion CSK got Scott Kuggeleijn as the replacement of Lungi Ngidi on the current season of IPL. Hope Scott Kuggeleijn will flash in the IPL-19 according to his talent.
