Losing the toss, Bangladesh had to bat first. But lost opener Mominul Haque by 11 on the scoreboard. Then another opener Liton Das also disappointed by 12 runs. Soumya Sarker hurried for the pavilion by 27 runs on the scoreboard. By the wicket of Mohammad Mithun, Bangladesh was under pressure losing 4 wickets by 31 runs.
Then experienced Mushfuqur Rahim and Mahmudullah made 108 runs on the fifth wickets partnership. Though, scoring 62 runs from 61 balls with 8 fours, Mushfiqur Rahim got beaten to Sean Soila at 139 runs on the scoreboard. Then Mahmudullah made another 35 runs with Sabbir Rahman. Before scoring 72 runs from 88 balls with 10 fours, Mahmudullah got out.
But Sabbir Rahman scored 40 runs from 41 balls with 6 fours and reached the team to a balanced score of 247 runs before all-out with 23 balls in hand. Ian McPeak got 4 wickets for 38 runs and led the wicket-taking festival. Both Andrew Hazeldine and Rachin Ravindra got a couple of wickets. The rests were for Jammie Brown and Sean Soila as well.
New Zealand XI inning
To the target of average score, New Zealand XI started well. As their openers, Jeet Raval and Andrew Fletcher picked 114 runs. Before scoring 52 runs from 63 balls with 5 fours, Jeet Raval surrendered to Nayeem Hasan. Then the early pickup of Sean Soila made Bangladesh some comfort.
But another opener Andrew Fletcher scored 92 runs from 112 balls with8 fours before Mustafizur Rahman sent him back. Finn Allen Katene Clark became the last double-digit scorer and the early pickup of the rest made the match so confusing. But max Chu and Andrew Hazeldine reached the score for 8 wickets.
