Australia trail by 72 runs against Sri Lanka on the first day of Brisbane. Aussie pacer Pat Cummins picked 4 wickets and debuted Jhue Richardson got 3 that closed the visitors with 144 runs.

Winning the toss Sri Lanka opted to bat first on Brisbane. Maybe Batsmen did not agree to the Captains decision and played some suicidal shots. Two openers Dimuth Karunaratne and Lahiru Thirimanne picked 26 runs but scoring 12 runs Lahiru Thirimanne surrendered to Pat Cummins on the 11th over.
Captain Dinesh Chandimal became a pickup to Jhye Richardson with 5 runs. Another opener Dimuth Karunaratne tried to face the Aussie attack. But scoring 24 runs he gifted a catch to Tim Pain on Nathan Lyons delivery.
Kusal Mendis became a pick up to Jhye Richardson. Dhananjaya de Silva became another pickup to Richardson. Losing 5 wickets by 65 runs Sri Lanka was counting for early bagging. Roshen Silva got 9 runs from 56 deliveries.
Then none of the batsmen survived to the Aussie attack. But Niroshan Dickwella was a one-man army, scored 64 runs from 78 deliveries with 6 fours and a six. After his wicket at 144 runs, Sri Lanka couldn’t pick any runs to the scoreboard and got all out by 144 runs at only 56 overs of the day.
Pacer Pat Cummins got 4 wickets and led the visitor’s wicket taking festival. Jhye Richarson got 3 wickets and companied him well. Mitchell stark got a pair of wickets and Nathan Lyon had the rest.
As Sri Lanka packed for 144 runs Australia lost two wickets by picking 72 runs. At 37 runs on the scoreboard, scoring 15 runs, opener Joe Burns gave a catch to Kusal Mendis on Lahiru Lakmals delivery. Usman Khawaja couldn’t survived well and bold on Dilruwan Perera’s over at 72 runs on the scoreboard.
Another opener Marcus Harris scored 40 runs with 5 boundaries. Marcus Harries will bat on the second day with Nathan Lyon.
