Ireland first inning couldn’t provide a satisfied total on the first day on Dehradun test. So their first inning ended in 172 runs. Despite a poor total, the eleventh Irish batsman, Tim Murtagh scored 54 runs and made tried to steer the team as well. Another lower order George Dockrell 39 runs and tried to survive on the wicket as well. Afghanistan bowled with teamwork. Both Yamin Ahmadzai and Mohammad Nabi picked 3 wickets.

As Afghanistan first inning resulted comparatively well. Accordingly, their 314 runs brought them 142 runs lead on the first inning. Despite, Mohammad Shehzad scored 40 runs but the man of the match winner Rahmat Shah missed his century for just 2 runs. As Mohammad Shahzad scored only 2 runs but another opener Ihsanullah Janet scored 65 runs. again, Rahmat Shah scored well, his unbeatable 76 runs brought Afghanistan history and him the man of the match title.

When you win the toss and bat first you have to capitalize on that, if we batted anywhere close to how we batted in the second innings, it could have been different. Still, our second game and quite a few players made their debut and I’m sure some of them want to kick-on and contribute more. It’s been a long tour, but the lads have been very good. You are never tired to play Test cricket. It’s always a special feeling.”
